The city of Trinidad, Cuba is located centrally on the island of Cuba. In Cuban terms (and you’ll soon learn that they’re very different from the rest of the world). Trinidad is located 315 km (195 miles) from Havana, which is 4 hours driving time and 7 hours bus travel time. From Varadero to Trinidad, it is 265 km (164 miles); and the Trinidad to Varadero travel time is 4 hours driving, or 7.5 hours bus travel.

The quickest way to go to Trinidad from Varadero is to take a pre-arranged transfer. They’ll pick you (and your luggage) up from either your hotel or casa particular and drop you at your hotel or casa particular in Trinidad.

Taking a private taxi to Trinidad from Varadero is one of the fastest ways to go to Trinidad. It is the most comfortable way to travel. If your time in Varadero is limited and you just want to visit Trinidad for the day, then you can take a day trip to Trinidad from Varadero. This also combines a visit to Cienfuegos AND Santa Clara and it’s a fabulous use of time. The easiest way to do this is to prebook – you’ll get an air-conditioned car that picks you up from your Varadero accommodation and takes you to the main tourist areas in Trinidad, as well as Cienfuegos AND Santa Clara too. 3. Colectivos from Varadero to Trinidad
You can also find a share colectivo from Varadero to Trinidad. The best place to do this is near the Viazul Bus station in Varadero, or with your casa particular owner. (Read more about what casa particular owners can help with in our guide here).

The Viazul Bus is one of the best ways to go from Varadero to Trinidad. However (and there are always “howevers” in Cuba), buses leave the bus station in Varadero, so you will have to consider getting there from your accommodation in Varadero. You must also check in 1 hour in advance of your bus departure time to confirm your seat.
There are only THREE buses a week from Varadero to Trinidad – they currently run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only. This bus journey takes 7.5 hours.

The Viazul Bus Station in Trinidad is located at Calle 36 y Autopista de Trinidad
It’s about 332 kilometers (206 miles) by road from Varadero to Trinidad and the bus from Varadero to Trinidad is one of the easiest ways to go from Varadero to Trinidad. It takes about 7.5 hours to go from Varadero to Trinidad by bus. There are stops at Pio Cua, Santa Clara, and Cienfuegos. The buses from Varadero to Trinidad run at 16:00 and arrives in Trinidad at 23:30.
