4 Ways to get from Varadero Airport to Varadero (and back)
For transport from Varadero to Varadero Airport, then you have several options. I’ll start with the cheapest way and that’s the bus. Yes. You can take a bus from Varadero Airport to Varadero. However, it doesn’t run very often and it likely goes nowhere near where you want to be in Varadero. I’ll also cover taking a taxi to Varadero from Varadero Airport, pre-booking a transfer from Varadero Airportand the final option on how to go to Varadero from Varadero Airport is to rent a car and drive yourself there.
The quickest (and easiest) way to go to Varadero from Varadero Airport is to take a pre-arranged transfer. They’ll pick you (and your luggage) up from the airport at the pre-arranged time and drop you at your hotel or casa particular in Varadero. 1. Taxi from Varadero Airport to Varadero

Always confirm, not just the amount but that it is both for the entire car (and not per person)and what currency you’re paying in? I’ve lost count of the number of people who think they’ve got a great deal only to find out that they were all talking at cross purposes. Believe me. When this happens it’s NEVER in your favour.
If there’s a flight arriving, there will be taxis available. No matter what time your flight arrives. It’s the way of the world.
2. Shared Shuttles from Varadero Airport to Varadero
You can book a shared taxi or shared shuttle from Varadero Airport to Varadero. We also provide this through Civitatis – you’ll need to select the SHARED option. This is one of the cheapest ways to go from Varadero Airport to Varadero.

3. Viazul Bus from Varadero Airport to Varadero
The Viazul Bus is the cheapest way to go from Varadero Airport to Varadero. However (and if this your first time in Cuba, you’ll get to know that there are LOTS of “howevers” in Cuba). There is only one bus a day that goes from Varadero Airport to Varadero.
At the time of writing these buses leave Varadero Airport three times a day. You can check the latest schedules for the Viazul Bus here. Buses leave the airport from RIGHT OUTSIDE THE terminal building. They just pull up, offload passengers, load passengers and go.
Some Viazul buses from Varadero Airport also go to hotels in Varadero, you’ll need to check the timetable to find out which ones, as not all of them take a route to the hotels. There are specific hotels that the bus stops at, so when you book your ticket you’ll need to select which one.

You MUST check in 1 hour in advance of your bus departure time to confirm your seat. Tickets sell out so you need to buy your ticket in advance. You can buy Viazul tickets online here, at their website.
The Viazul Bus Station in Varadero is located at Calle 36 y Autopista de Varadero < that is not particularly convenient for many people.

It’s about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) by road from Varadero Airport to the Varadero bus terminal and the bus takes about 30 minutes to travel there. There are no other stops en route. The buses are generally older, but air-conditioned. There’s no seat allocation, so you get what’s left. Viazul Buses to Varadero from Varadero Airport cost 10 Euros.

4. Rent a Car and Drive from Varadero Airport to Varadero
You’ll find Cuban car rental companies at the airport in Varadero, but this isn’t the sort of country where you can just rock up and find a car. You’ll need to book it in advance. You’ll pay upwards of US$50 a day, demand is VERY limited and there’s also a daily insurance charge to pay.

This is a really easy trip. There are buses that you can take, but only two of them. There are always taxis waiting when a flight lands, and there are both private transfers and shared shuttles that you can take.
